Jacmel Jewelry Inc. Grievance Procedure

Introduction
Jacmel Jewelry, Inc. is committed to conducting business in an ethical and responsible manner.  If any employee or stakeholder has a concern about any aspect of the work environment or perceives any violation of Company policy or a legal violation, Jacmel encourages them to promptly raise their concern.

Jacmel Jewelry Inc.’s aim is to ensure that employees with a grievance relating to their employment or stakeholders wishing to inform management of a concern, including any form of misconduct, can use this procedure to help resolve grievances as quickly and as fairly as possible. Jacmel Jewelry Inc. wishes to give two options for employees to seek corrective action for grievances -- one where the employee can discuss the matter informally and a second option to file a written complaint, and the employee may choose to remain anonymous.

Please refer to the complaint process in our equal employment policy or policy against harassment for complaints of that nature.

Jacmel Jewelry Inc. strictly prohibits any manager or supervisor from taking any form of retaliatory action towards a staff member reporting a grievance.

lnformal Discussion
If an employee has a grievance about their employment they may discuss it informally with an immediate manager or Human Resources as soon as possible If the concern involves their manager, the employee should speak with Human Resources. We hope that the majority of concerns will be resolved in this informal way.

Formal written complaint
Step 1 - Statement of grievance
If the employee feels that the matter has not been resolved through informal discussions, or wishes to bypass that step, they should put the grievance in writing using the Company’s grievance form and give it to their immediate manager or Human Resources.  The employee should submit the grievance to whomever they feel most comfortable. Employees may choose to submit the form anonymously.

Step 2 - Grievance meeting
• If the employee has identified themself, within 5 working days the Company will respond, in writing, to the statement, inviting the employee to attend a meeting where the concern can be discussed. This meeting should be scheduled to take place as soon as possible and normally 5 working days, notice of this meeting will be provided to the employee.

• Employees must take all reasonable steps to attend the meeting, but if for any unforeseen reason the employee, or the employer, can't attend, the meeting must be rearranged.

• After the meeting, the Company representative hearing the grievance will write to the employee informing them of any decision or remedial action and offering them the right of appeal. This letter will generally be sent within 5 working days of the grievance meeting and should include the details on how to appeal.

Step 3 - Appeal
• If the matter is not resolved to the employee’s satisfaction, they must set out their grounds of appeal in writing within 5 working days of receipt of the decision letter.

• Generally within 5 working days of receiving an appeal letter, the employee should receive a written invitation to attend an appeal meeting. The appeal meeting should be taken by a more senior manager not involved in the original meeting.

• After the appeal meeting, the senior manager must inform the employee in writing of their decision, generally within 5 working days of the meeting. This decision will be final.

Step 4 - Documenting and reporting
Jacmel Jewelry Inc. will keep a log of all grievances and, as applicable, any investigation and/or follow up actions taken.
